Merrell Team | September 16, 2019

On behalf of the entire Merrell team, we’d like to congratulate Merrell Ambassador, veteran, and thru-hiker Will “Akuna” Robinson on completing the Triple Crown of Hiking. On Sunday, Sept. 15, Akuna reached the northern terminus of the Continental Divide Trail (CDT), his final trail of the Triple Crown, along with his hiking partner, Dawn “Undecided” Potts. Akuna set out on the CDT from New Mexico in early April 2019.

This incredible achievement makes him the first African American male on record to complete the Triple Crown of Hiking. Additionally, as a veteran, Akuna has inspired thousands around the globe through sharing his story of utilizing thru-hiking as a way to manage his PTSD.

The Triple Crown of Hiking includes the Appalachian Trail (AT), the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), and the Continental Divide Trail, the three major U.S. long-distance hiking trails. Akuna completed the PCT in 2017 and the AT in 2018.

We’re proud to have Akuna as part of our family and hope that his journey and future adventures continue to inspire many to experience the power of the trail.

Congrats Akuna!
